Ricky McKendree
Ricky
is the father of Justin, Jason and Jessalyn. He has been a major influence on
their musical talents. It was only natural for Ricky to hand down his musical
abilities to the kids; after all, they were handed down to him from his mother
Elizabeth. Elizabeth sometimes
joins in with the band and does her own written songs and plays guitar. Ricky
occasionally will sing lead, but most of the time is content just to add to the rich
harmonies of his children by adding baritone or tenor. He plays a Martin guitar,
his recently acquired prized possession, with a rock solid rhythm surpassed by
none. He is married to his wife of
30 years, Becky. Together they have raised their children for a love of
Bluegrass music. His musical influences are of course mom Elizabeth, the Late
Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and Doyle Lawson.
